How notifications work

Filmo tells you what happens in your accounts in the bell, the browser, your phone and email. You choose the alerts; some notifications always arrive.

Every team member, for themselves, in the account they're working in. No permission or add-on is needed.

In a rental business, a lot happens while you're busy with something else: a client confirms, a colleague reserves an order, someone assigns you a job, a client writes in the portal. You shouldn't have to go looking for any of it.

Filmo tells you with a . Each one is kept in the at the bottom of the sidebar, shows up instantly while you have Filmo open, reaches your phone if you use the Filmo app and, for some, arrives by email. Think of it as your own news feed for the account.

Take the Landmark Venues wedding: three large frame tents, 120 Chiavari chairs and 12 round tables. You're in charge of the warehouse, so you want to know the moment the order is reserved, without refreshing the orders list all morning.

Two kinds of notification

  • An is one you choose. You pick the , such as «Order reserved», and whether it reaches you in the app, by email or both. They're all off until you turn them on. See Alerts and notifications settings.
  • A is one Filmo sends because something concerns you: a task assigned to you, a , a change to an order you created. It always arrives, and you can't turn it off. See Notifications you get without turning them on.

Your settings, your accounts

Alerts belong to each person in each account. Nobody can turn them on for you, and an administrator can't set defaults for the team. If you work in several accounts, you choose your alerts in each one, but every notification lands in the same bell, labelled with its account.

StateWhat it meansWhat it changes
UnreadYou haven't opened it or marked it as read yet.It counts towards the number on the bell and, in the desktop app, on the app icon.
ReadYou opened it or marked it as read.It stops counting and stays in the «All» tab. You can mark it as unread again.

Notifications don't expire and can't be deleted. You only mark them as read or unread.

Where notifications arrive: app, browser, phone and email

One notification can reach you in several places at once. Here's what to expect from each:

WhereWhat you seeWhen
The bellThe notification in your history, and one more on the counter.Alerts with «In-app» turned on, and every direct notification.
Pop-up in FilmoA message in the corner for a few seconds, with its account if it isn't the one you're in. Clicking it opens what it's about.Every notification that reaches the bell while Filmo is open.
Browser notificationA notification from your computer, with sound.Once you allow it with «Enable notifications» in the bell.
PhoneA push notification with the notification's title and text.Everything that reaches the bell, on phones signed in to the Filmo app and used in the last 90 days.
EmailAn email with the subject «[Filmo] …», showing the account, what happened, who did it, when, and a «View details» button.Alerts with «Email» turned on, and a few direct notifications.

The needs your permission once. The has no switch of its own: whatever reaches your bell also goes to your phone. The email always goes to the address you sign in to Filmo with, in your language.

  • If you're already on the messages page, new portal and website chat messages don't pop up: the conversation updates by itself. They still go into the bell.
  • Your phone can hide the content and show only «Filmo · Nueva notificación». That preview setting lives in the Filmo mobile app, not on the web.
  • Notifications from a workflow's step reach the bell and the pop-up, but not your phone or email.

Good to know

  • There are no quiet hours, daily digests or grouping. Each event sends its own notification when it happens.
  • The text of notifications and emails is fixed. You can't edit it.
  • Filmo doesn't confirm delivery. If an email or a push fails, it isn't retried, and the action that caused it still goes ahead.
  • Slack isn't a notification channel. To post to Slack, use a workflow.
  • Whether a client accepts your marketing emails is something else, set on the contact. See Contact preferences.
  • The emails clients get from your (invitations, confirmations) are part of the portal. See How the client portal works.

Warning: When someone leaves your team, removing them doesn't turn off the alerts they had chosen in your account. Before you remove them, ask them to turn off their alerts in «Alerts & notifications» and save.
