Why can't I activate a workflow?
A workflow won't go live with an empty required field, missing integration setup, an invalid schedule or a mismatched email account. Here's how to fix each.
Account administrators: «Owner», «Super administrator» and «Administrator». The rest of the team can open public workflows and their history, but can't change or launch them.
Workflows isn't open in Filmo yet: the sidebar shows it as coming soon and its pages can't be opened. This article describes how it works once it's available in your account.
You click «Publish and activate» or turn on the switch, and the workflow doesn't go : it stays paused, or Filmo shows an error.
What you'll see
- «Falta rellenar un campo obligatorio: …» or «Faltan campos obligatorios por rellenar: …», naming the and the field (shown in Spanish).
- «No se puede activar» next to the switch (shown in Spanish).
- «Workflow paused» — «It has been paused due to missing required fields», after you clicked «Publish» on a workflow in «Live».
Why it happens
- This can happen if a has an empty required field. The editor saves incomplete steps, but activation doesn't accept them.
- This can happen if a connected integration used by a step is missing configuration, such as the treasury account in Holded.
- This can happen if the workflow is a «Draft» and was activated without being published («Publica el workflow antes de activarlo»).
- This can happen if a has a custom expression Filmo can't understand («La expresión cron no es válida»).
- This can happen if an email or calendar step is tied to one provider but has an account from another selected («Hay pasos con una cuenta que no es de su proveedor…»).
- This can happen if someone else published the workflow at the same moment («El workflow se modificó a la vez desde otro sitio; vuelve a intentarlo»).
- This can happen if you're not an account administrator («Solo los administradores pueden gestionar workflows»).
How to fix it
- Find the incomplete steps In the editor, look for the steps marked in red. The message names the step and the field.
- Complete them Fill in each required field.
- Check the integrations In «Settings» → «Integrations», finish the configuration the message asks for. For Xero, see Fix Xero pending configuration.
- Fix the schedule If the message mentions cron, open the block and correct the custom expression, or pick one of the preset options.
- Match the email accounts In each email or calendar step, choose an account from the provider the step is tied to.
- Click «Publish and activate» again If someone else published at the same time, reload the workflow first.
Other messages
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cannot be made public | Not an activation problem: the workflow has email or calendar steps, so it stays private. |
| Este workflow es privado: solo su creador y los administradores pueden acceder (shown in Spanish) | You opened someone else's private workflow and you're not an administrator. |
| The workflow goes live, but a Slack or accounting step fails | The app isn't connected. Filmo checks its configuration, not the connection. Connect it. |
Still stuck?
If you're an administrator and the workflow still won't go live, contact Filmo support with the workflow's name and the exact message.
