Review a workflow's runs and errors

Spot failing workflows in the list, then open the «Runs» tab and a run to see each step's input, output and error.

Anyone who can open the workflow: the whole team for a public one; only the person who created it and administrators for a private one. Acting on a run needs an administrator.

Workflows isn't open in Filmo yet: the sidebar shows it as coming soon and its pages can't be opened. This article describes how it works once it's available in your account.

Once a workflow is running on its own, the question is whether it's doing its job. Did the client get the email about the wedding? Why did yesterday's run fail?

Filmo records every by step: a summary in the list, figures for each workflow, and the detail of each run with what went in and out of every .

Spot problems in the list

ColumnWhat it shows
«Runs»The workflow's stored runs, with how many completed and failed.
«Status»«Live», «Paused», «Draft» or «Archived».
«Created by»Who created the workflow.
«Last published»When the current version was published.
«Last error»The date of the most recent failed run.

The «With errors» filter keeps only workflows with a stored failed run. You can hide columns and sort by name, runs or last published.

«Last error» shows at a glance which workflow failed recently.

Check a workflow's runs

  1. Open the workflow Click it in the «Workflows» list.
  2. Read the «Summary» In the side panel: «Completed», «Failed», «In progress» and the «Average time» of completed runs.
  3. Open the «Runs» tab The «Run history» shows the 100 most recent runs, with their number, status, date and credits spent.
  4. Open a run Click it to see its detail.
The open run's card, its steps coloured on the canvas, and the «Run history».

Read a run's detail

  • The canvas draws the version that ran, not the current one, and colours each step: «Completed», «Failed», «Caught error» (inside «Try») or «Unreached». If the canvas can't be drawn, the steps are listed instead.
  • Select a step to see its «Input», «Output» and «Error» (with «Code», «HTTP Status», «Fields» or «Response» when there are any), its «Start», «End» and «Duration». A step inside a appears once per pass; a jump shows «Jumps made».
  • The run's card sums up «Status», «Resumes at» if it's waiting, «Runtime», «Triggered», «Completed», «Steps executed» and «Credits», with the «Resume», «Retry» and «Cancel» buttons.
Select the red step to read its error.

Warning: Input and output can contain client and business data, and anyone who can open the workflow sees them.

Good to know

  • There's no dashboard of runs by period and no error summary: you diagnose run by run.
  • If a run was retried automatically, you see only its last error.
  • Runs are deleted 90 days after they finish, and at once if you delete the workflow. The «Summary» counts every stored run, but only the 100 most recent can be opened.
  • In «Custom Development» steps, the error shown is generic.
  • Business dashboards and reports are a different module, in Reports.
