Run a workflow manually
Launch a workflow from a record with «Run workflow», from the editor, the home widget, another workflow or the API. Every run is real.
Account administrators. Others see «Run» disabled in the home widget («You do not have permission to run it») and don't see «Run workflow» on records.
Workflows isn't open in Filmo yet: the sidebar shows it as coming soon and its pages can't be opened. This article describes how it works once it's available in your account.
Not everything should happen on its own. Before the Landmark Venues wedding, you might want to send the client a delivery reminder only after you've checked the order yourself.
A workflow with the on orders, “Send delivery reminder”, does that: you launch it from the order, and its receive that order.
Warning: A launched by hand is real: there's no test mode. Emails go out, notifications arrive, and records are created or changed.
Launch it from the order
- Open the order The Landmark Venues wedding.
- Click «Run workflow» It's in the order's actions menu, and among the quick actions of the search box.
- Choose the workflow Search with «Search workflow…» and pick “Send delivery reminder”.
- Follow it «Execution started» appears, with «View execution» to open the run.
The list shows the workflows with a «Manual execution» trigger for that kind of record that you can open, aren't archived and are in .
Warning: While Workflows is held back, administrators still see «Run workflow» on records, and «Create workflow» in that dialog creates a workflow whose editor can't be opened. Don't use it until Workflows is open in your account.
Other ways to launch a workflow
From the editor
- Select the «Manual» trigger Click «Run workflow».
- Fill in the form If the trigger has an , fill it in and click «Run».
- Check the notice «Run launched» — «Follow the result in the Runs tab» appears.
If there are , Filmo publishes them first, because a run always uses a . If the workflow was in «Live» and a required field is empty, that publish pauses it.
From the home page
Add the «Manual workflows» widget to your home panel; it isn't there by default. It lists the workflows with a «Manual» trigger, ready ones first, with «Run» on each one and a link to the full list.
From another workflow
A step launches a «Manual» workflow, or one with the «From another workflow» trigger, and fills in its form.
Through the public API
With an API key that belongs to an administrator and has the workflows:run scope, a POST to /api/v1/workflows/{id}/runs queues the run and returns its identifier without waiting for it to finish. With the header, repeating the request returns the same run. GET /api/v1/workflows, with workflows:read, lists the workflows with their trigger and form.

No path launches a workflow without a published version («Must be published to run»), except the editor, which publishes first.
If you see an error
