Fix "Cannot block availability because there are future reservations"

The resource is promised to upcoming jobs. Create the incident without blocking, or move those reservations and turn the block on again.

People with the «Lost and damaged» permission in edit mode. With view mode you can open incidents and repair tickets, but not change them.

Maintenance is the «Incident and repair management» add-on, billed per user, with a 30-day free trial. Without it, «Maintenance» doesn't appear in the sidebar.

Filmo won't block a resource that's already promised to upcoming jobs, because those jobs would be left short. You see this when you turn on on an .

What you'll see

A window with «Cannot block availability because there are future reservations», and two buttons: «Cancel» and «Create without blocking».

Why it happens

  • This can happen if the unit with a serial number is out on a job, or came back and isn't checked in yet.
  • This can happen if the unit has a future reservation, or the other units of the item can't cover what's already reserved.
  • This can happen if, for bulk equipment, the busiest moment of future reservations needs more than would be left after blocking the . Say the chairs are reserved 119 for next weekend: blocking 2 of 120 leaves 118.
  • This can happen if the space has future reservations.

Vehicles are never checked, so you won't see this message for them.

How to fix it

Choose depending on whether the equipment really can't go out:

  1. If it can wait, record it without the block Click «Create without blocking». The incident is saved as a record and the reservations stay as they are.
  2. If it can't go out, find the orders that have it Open the resource and look at its upcoming reservations.
  3. Swap or remove it on those orders Choose another unit, reduce the quantity, or cover the job some other way.
  4. Check in anything still pending If the unit came back but isn't checked in, check it in on the return page.
  5. Turn the block on again On the incident, turn on «Blocks availability».

Still stuck?

If the check itself fails with an error, the screen turns the block on anyway. Check the upcoming orders that use the resource, because they keep it. If the message keeps appearing with no reservations in sight, contact support with the incident's identifier.
