Organize a warehouse into aisles, shelves and levels
Divide a warehouse into a tree of aisles, shelves and levels so each piece of stock points to exactly where it's kept.
People with the «Spaces» permission in edit mode. With view mode you can open spaces but not change them.
Putting stock in a location is done from the item, with the «Inventory» permission.
Knowing that the tents are “in the main warehouse” doesn't help much when the warehouse is big. Whoever prepares the Landmark Venues wedding wants to walk straight to the right aisle and shelf.
In Filmo you divide a warehouse into a tree of : aisles, shelves inside them, levels inside the shelves, as deep as you need. Each piece of stock can then point to one of them, such as “Aisle 2 › Green shelf › Level 3”.
Before you start
The space must be a warehouse: has to be on in its «General information». Otherwise the «Warehouse locations» card doesn't appear.
Create the locations
Let's give the main warehouse an aisle with a shelf and a level.
- Open the warehouse In «Spaces», open “Main warehouse”. The «Warehouse locations» card is on its «Summary».
- Add a top-level location Click «Add location», name it “Aisle 2” and confirm.
- Add a location inside it On “Aisle 2”, click «Add sublocation» and name it “Green shelf”.
- Go one level deeper On “Green shelf”, click «Add sublocation» and name it “Level 3”.
The tree now has three levels. Each location shows “{count} in stock”: the records located directly in it. A tent with its own serial number counts as one, and so does a batch of chairs, whatever its quantity. A location doesn't add up what's in the locations inside it.
Put equipment in a location
You choose the location from the item, not from the warehouse. When you add or move stock and choose a warehouse, «Location within the warehouse» appears. In a space that isn't a warehouse, Filmo shows “Internal locations are only available in warehouses.”. See Add stock to an item.
Change the tree
| You want to | How | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Rename a location or move it under another one | «Rename» on the location; in the window, change the name or the «Parent location» | Choose “No location (warehouse root)” to make it top-level. You can only move it within the same warehouse. |
| Change the order | Drag the location among the others at its level | — |
| Delete a location | «Delete» → «Delete location» | Its sublocations are deleted too. The stock in them isn't deleted: it stays in the warehouse with no location. It can't be undone. |
See the whole warehouse
The card has two views. «List» is the tree you edit. «Diagram» draws the same tree as an outline you can read but not change, with «Zoom in», «Zoom out» and «Fit to screen».
Warning: Turning off «Warehouse space» hides the card without warning, even if the warehouse has locations and stock in them. The locations aren't deleted, and the stock keeps pointing to them, but you can't choose them for new stock until you turn it back on.
If you see an error

| Could not load locations | Click «Retry». |
