Add custom lines and sections
Use a custom line for anything that isn't in your catalog, and sections to group an order's lines under a title.
People with the «Orders» permission in edit mode. With view mode you can open orders but not change them.
Not everything on a job is in your catalog. A puts it on the order anyway, as a free concept with its own price. And when an order gets long, give it some shape: a title that groups lines, so the order and its documents read the way you think about the job.
Add a custom line
Say Landmark Venues asks for something that isn't in your catalog. Let's put it on the wedding order.
- Add the line Next to the search box, click «Add custom line».
- Name it Click the name «Custom line» on the line and type what it is.
- Set the quantity It starts at 1. Change it next to the name.
- Set the price Click the line's price: it starts at 0. Set the price, discount and taxes there.
- Save Click «Save draft» on a new order, or «Save» on one that already exists.
The line takes the client's default taxes, or your company's if the client has none. Expand it to add notes.
A custom line works like any other line, with a few differences:
- It has no stock: Filmo doesn't check or hold availability for it.
- It's always charged as a rental line: it can't be turned into a .
- Its price options don't include «Predefined periods».
- When you change the order dates, its price isn't recalculated.
- It goes out with the rest of the order: the delivery includes custom lines.
Group lines into sections
Filmo already does part of this for you: each item you add goes into a section named after its in your catalog, and items with no collection go into «Others». For the wedding, you might also want the tents on their own, apart from the chairs and tables.
- Open the menu Open the menu next to «Add custom line».
- Add the section Choose «Add section». It appears at the end, called «New section».
- Name it Click the title and type a new one, such as “Tents”.
- Move lines into it Drag each tent line by its handle until it sits under the title.
- Save Click «Save» when you're done.
A section holds the lines below it, up to the next section. Expand a section to add notes about it.
Rename or delete a section
To rename it, click its title and type. To delete it, click ✕ on the section row: only the title goes, and its lines stay on the order.
Sections in your documents
Quotes and invoices made from the order keep its sections; empty ones are left out. They're printed as headings, each with its group total, only if the document template has «Sections» turned on, which is off by default.
On the delivery page, lines are listed by section as on the order, and the delivery note can include just the sections you choose with «Delivery by section» or «Return by section».
What happens next
Custom lines and sections are saved with the order. If you save it as an («⋯» → «Save as import template»), they're kept in the template too, ready for the next job.

Add a custom line during the delivery
The warehouse can also add something on the day. On the delivery page, «Add» offers «Custom line (delivery)». It appears under «Items added during delivery» and doesn't change the order price. To charge for it, open the order and use «Promote to order» on that line: it's then added to the total.
Frequently asked questions
Use a custom line for one-off things. If you'll rent it again, create it as an item in your inventory, so it has its own price and stock.
