Void a simplified invoice
Voiding cancels an approved simplified invoice for good but keeps its number. A draft isn't voided: you delete it from its page.
People with the «Sales» permission in edit mode. With view mode you can open, download, print and send these documents, but not create or change them.
Sometimes a receipt shouldn't exist: you issued it twice, or rang up a sale that didn't happen. An approved simplified invoice can't be edited or deleted, so you void it. Voiding marks it as legally invalid but keeps its number, so its has no holes.
Voiding cancels the whole document. To credit only part of a sale, such as two returned rolls of gaffer tape, issue a instead. See Create a simplified rectifying invoice.
Before you start
Only a «Validated» simplified invoice can be voided. A draft has no number, so you delete it instead (see below).
Void the simplified invoice
- Open the menu On the simplified invoice's page, click «⋮» → «Void».
- Give the reason Type the «Cancellation reason». It's required: the button stays disabled without it.
- Confirm Click «Void Simplified invoice».
What changes
- The simplified invoice shows as «Voided». It keeps its number and its content.
- The reason is stored in its history.
- If it came from an order, its reference in the order shows as voided.
- Recorded payments don't change, and no correcting document is created.
Warning: Voiding doesn't refund any money. If the buyer paid and should get it back, record the refund separately. See Refund a simplified invoice.
What happens next
Voiding can't be undone. To bill the sale again, create a new simplified invoice. See Create and approve a simplified invoice.
Other ways to remove it
Delete a draft simplified invoice
A draft that you no longer need can be deleted. Do it from its page: «Delete» in the row of the «Invoices» list doesn't work for simplified invoices.
- Open the draft In «Sales» → «Invoices», open the draft simplified invoice.
- Delete it Click «⋮» → «Delete».
Warning: Filmo deletes the draft straight away, without asking you to confirm.
- If it came from an order, it disappears from the order's «Documents» card.
- A draft has no number, so the series doesn't change.
- «Delete» is also shown on approved simplified invoices, but it only works on drafts.
