Credit note or simplified rectifying invoice

A credit note corrects an invoice; a simplified rectifying invoice corrects a simplified invoice. Choose by the document you're correcting.

Both documents are created and managed with the «Sales» permission in edit mode, and viewed with view mode.

A rental business issues two kinds of sales documents: full invoices to identified clients, and simplified invoices for quick sales over the counter. Each one is corrected with its own document, so the first question is always which document you're correcting.

A corrects an invoice. A corrects a . Both subtract the credited amount without changing the document they correct, and both are approved, voided and refunded the same way. They differ in how much Filmo checks and in where they reach.

Which one to use

  • Use a credit note when you're correcting an invoice issued to an identified client, which is the usual case between businesses. It's the one that reaches the , your accounting program and the order's profitability.
  • Use a simplified rectifying invoice when you're correcting a simplified invoice, such as a sale to a member of the public with no client details. It's lighter and has no e-Invoice.

Filmo doesn't decide which document your tax rules require in each case. If you're unsure, check with your accountant.

Warning: Filmo offers «Convert to» → «Simplified rectifying invoice» even on a simplified invoice that's still a draft. Correct only simplified invoices that are already approved.

Or void the invoice instead

A credit note doesn't replace or change the invoice: it's a separate document that subtracts from it. If the whole invoice shouldn't exist, you can void it instead. When each one fits is explained in Correct an issued invoice: void or credit note.
