Card payments with Stripe

  • Finance
  • Client portal and website

Let clients pay an invoice or make an advance payment from the portal, with Stripe handling the payment.

With Stripe connected and active, and Online payments enabled in the portal, a client can pay an invoice's outstanding balance by card. For a quote or proforma, the payment is an advance for its total. This puts the payment step beside the document the client is reviewing.

Filmo records the collection after Stripe confirms it and assigns it to the document. An invoice's payment status updates; a quote or proforma receives an advance and becomes confirmed, without creating an invoice. Starting a payment or seeing it processing is not the same as having collected it.

Stripe handles the payment and sends funds to your bank. The client's collection and the later payout are separate movements. Configure the payout destination in Filmo so you can track that transfer, then confirm its receipt when it reaches your bank. Fees and refunds need their own review.

The guides and recordings below describe Filmo today. Screens and available options may have changed since this update.

An administrator should follow Connect Stripe to collect online payments, complete Stripe's verification and check for Active status. Then enable the relevant document section and Online payments in the portal. If Filmo says card payments are not enabled for your account, contact support; a completed provider connection alone does not override that limit.

Read How online payments work before sending the link. Invoices collect the whole outstanding amount; quote and proforma advances collect the total under their eligibility rules. Set an active euro account as the payout destination and follow Confirm a Stripe payout. Stripe fees, refunds and disputes are not automatically reflected as matching adjustments in Filmo.
