Consignments

  • Equipment and inventory
  • Finance

Rent out equipment that belongs to someone else and keep track of the owner’s share of each job.

Equipment can live in your warehouse without being entirely yours. Consignments let you record who owns it, rent it out with the rest of your stock and calculate what each owner earns from the orders that use it.

Assign one or more owners and their percentages to a serialized unit or a row of bulk stock. Whatever remains up to 100% is your share. The ownership belongs to those units or that stock, rather than to every item with the same name.

Suppose a partner leaves a lighting kit with you for 30% of what its rental earns. When that equipment goes on an order, Filmo calculates the partner’s share. Before settlement, the amount follows the order’s prices and discounts, so review them before closing the period.

Review the shares for one order or select several to settle together. Settlement creates purchase orders in the owners’ names and freezes the settled amounts. It records what is owed; it does not itself pay the owner. The owner’s invoice and payment are separate steps.

The guides and recordings below describe Filmo today. Screens and available options may have changed since this update.

Start by assigning owners to the stock, then check how the order’s split is calculated. Use bulk settlement only after reviewing the selected orders and amounts.

The current setup needs the Consignments add-on. Settlement also needs Purchases and the relevant edit permission; the consignments guide explains access and the difference between settled, invoiced and paid.
